Our Instructors
All
CGL instructors are college graduates with teaching experience.
They are a group of dedicated and experienced educators who maintain
and enhance their teaching skills by participating in on-going professional
development training and workshops. Instruction is given exclusively
in the target language with a de-emphasis on translation and an
emphasis on conversation. Culture is also incorporated into the
language program so that students may gain a greater ability to
understand and appreciate native speakers. Using a variety of creative
teaching techniques, instructors can adapt classroom activities
to cater to all learning styles and preferences. Our instructors
encourage active learning through the use of dialogues, modeling,
pictures, gestures, paraphrasing, and repetition. They are very
interested in the success of their students and due to small class
sizes, will give personal attention to each one.
Instructors:
- Possess native-like fluency in the language they teach
- Demonstrate the ability to establish a comfortable language-learning
environment
- Use dialogs, modeling, gestures, and body language to convey
meaning in the classroom
- Are required to complete a 24-hour teacher training program
that includes the following 8 workshops:
- The Communicative Approach
- Steps to Mastery
- Teacher-Talk & Error Correction
- Exploring Resources and Creating Materials
- Grammar in the Communicative Classroom
- Creating Effective Reviews & Post-Evaluations
- Designing Communicative Activities
- Culture in the Language Classroom
